IAA Exceeded PRECO’s Expectations
In its 67th year, the IAA Commercial Vehicle show has become one of the world’s largest events, with 2,174 exhibitors from 48 different countries and over 250,000 visitors throughout the show. Presenting the future of commercial vehicles and mobility, IAA exhibitors approached the industry’s top issues and introduced the latest and greatest innovations - showcasing the future of transportation, logistics and mobility.
Bringing the heavy-duty commercial vehicle industry into the future are innovators, industry experts and thought leaders from across the globe that came together to showcase the newest technological advancements. Embodying this year’s theme of Driving Tomorrow.
“The message is clear: we are making the future of transportation, logistics and mobility the key focus of this, the world's most important trade fair,” Berhard Mattes, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) said.
Safety technology was among the important advancements featured on the majority of the commercial vehicles introduced at the show. With the goal of improving urban mobility, side turn assistance continuously came up as a topic of interest for attendees. As a solution to this problem, PRECO showcased the PreView Side Defender II and the PreView Sentry.
The interest in our future-ready collision mitigation systems was great. While exhibiting at IAA, PRECO met with not only industry experts, but also visitors who want to gain an understanding of what is being done to improve safety on the world’s roadways. With the incredible technological advances within the heavy-duty transportation industry, our collision mitigation technologies are keeping pace in solving the backing and forward facing blind zone accidents, as well as side-turn assist incidents that will continue to take on even greater importance in the future.
With the goal of making roads safer than ever, the topic of safety advancements consistently focused back on the side turn assistance issue in urban environments. With the attention and emphasis on the importance of the side turn safety, it is evident that safety technologies should become the norm, benefitting the fleets and vulnerable road users (VRU). In the near future, PRECO predicts active safety systems will be capable of further mitigating blind spot and side turn assist issues specific to VRU’s in the European Union, where legislation is being passed to mandate side turn assistance (abbiegeasistent) technology on all heavy-duty commercial on-road vehicles.
PRECO Electronics would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the show, and those who met with our team. We look forward to bringing bigger and better innovations to the next IAA Commercial Vehicles show in 2020. Keep a look out.
