For the second straight year, PRECO Electronics attended the annual Latitude Conference hosted by Telogis, recently acquired by Verizon. Much of the interest from attendees centered on the potential changes that partnering with Verizon would bring.
Under the steady leadership of co-founders, Jason Koch and Newth Morris, the sentiment was that it will be business as usual at Telogis, meaning the continual drive to innovate in the areas of fleet safety and efficiency will not be disrupted.
Many of these innovations include partnering with forward thinking safety technology companies, such as Velvac, the New Berlin, Wisconsin mirror producer. Velvac shares a similar history to PRECO, having been established in the 1940’s and also having a rich history of supporting OEM vehicle and equipment manufacturers with their safety products. Velvac showcased their Aero-Cam vision system, which aims to help reduce truck side blind zones through the use of a camera that utilizes image recognition software to alert drivers of people or objects they may not see. It is this kind of intelligent safety technology we believe has great potential when fused with radar based object detection systems.
In addition to the Telogis partner product showcase, there were a number of enjoyable Telogis customer presentations, including Sysco, Apple and True Green. Guest speakers included Diana Nyad, who became the first person to swim from Cuba to the United States; a quest she began at the age of 5 and finally accomplished at the age of 64! She gave an extremely inspirational talk about her life and what drove her to succeed.
The highlight of the final day was, without a doubt, the lunchtime entertainment. Stand-up legend and late night talk show host, Jay Leno, kept the 600+ guests in fits of laughter before the final sessions of the day.
We are always extremely excited to participate at the Latitude conference, as it gives PRECO unparalleled interactions with our valued customers, as well as providing inspiration to continue to innovate and inspire. We look forward to being a part of this continuing drive to innovate at Latitude 2017!
